The Cygnus Trio

Benjamin Stuchbery is a Montreal-based flutist and multi-instrumentalist with a passion for collaboration. Whether he is premiering brand new compositions on the flute or interpreting baroque repertoire on the recorder, for Benjamin the impetus to perform is to provide access to a diverse range of musical styles to a broad audience. His core conviction is that music-making is a communal act of sharing between artist, audience and composer. His goal is to build a community of engaged music appreciators. 
As a founding member of the Cygnus Trio, Benjamin has performed widely in Canada and the United States. The venues have been diverse, including women’s shelters, children’s day centres, house concerts, and traditional concert halls. Most recently, as a member of the Trio Benjamin had the opportunity to work with members of Chicago-based Fifth House Ensemble on the development of new music and entrepreneurship. With the Cygnus Trio, he has premiered works by Charles Zoll, Patrick Walker and Karalyn Schubring.
